Badflower Challenges Mental Health Stigmas and Societal Standards on "OK, I'm Sick"

After doing my research, one thing about Badflower became very clear: they made an album to represent this generation and the hardships that come with being a young adult in 2019. They fearlessly challenge our views of mental health, our relationships with ourselves, and the ways we contribute to society.

With that being said, interviewing a band with so much to say was a challenging feat. I had a lot of ground to cover during my 15 minute press slot.

Some songs on their album "OK, I'm Sick" are edgy and attention grabbing while others have a dim aura meant to make you face your inner demons.

One song that fits the latter description is their single "Ghost." It garnered nationwide radio play and over 16 million Spotify streams all while raising an honest conversation about the singer's hardships with anxiety and panic disorder.

Meanwhile, "Murder Games" raises a discussion about the meat packing industry and the moral dilemma that omnivorous humans face as they contribute to inhumane practices towards animals. As a vegan and animal rights activist, I think this is a standout track on the album. Few bands are bold enough to describe the issue in such gruesome, uncensored detail.

Regardless of which song snatches your attention, the band will surely get your mind stirring.

I think Badflower will be one of the bands to lead the future trajectory of rock music. They are brutally honest, unapologetic, and they have the musical chops to back it up. Check out our interview to learn more about them so you can say "you knew them back then..."
