Nothing More Inspires Change and Reflection on The Truth Tour

Nothing More is masterfully combining music and activism on "The Truth Tour" to spark conversation and introspection to make the world a better place. They recognize that in order to improve our society, we have to start with ourselves.

They said it best in their song Do You Really Want It - "everybody wants to change the world, no one ever wants to change themselves." That is why they invited organizations Headcount and To Write Love On Her Arms to register new voters and raise awareness for mental health at every single stop of their Spring 2019 tour.

The goal of the tour is to challenge perspectives and open minds. The message is evident in everything including the upside down logo of the tour.

"The reason the word is upside down, it doesn't make it evil or anything like that, it's literally a perspective. Just because it looks different and it doesn't look right to you doesn't make it wrong. That is the whole idea of truth,"explained Nothing More guitarist Mark Vollelunga.

In addition to having the organizations out on the road, they launched the #IKnowJenny campaign on Instagram and $1 from each ticket sale is donated to support the movement. The idea is inspired by their song "Jenny" and encourages fans to share their stories of hope and triumph.

"I think the biggest part of it is just ending the stigma about mental health. It's one of those things that I think keeps people from actually going and getting help," said Nothing More bass player Daniel Oliver.

The motivation for the tour started with their Grammy nominated album The Stories We Tell Ourselves, which emphasizes how our inner monologues can skew our perception of reality and our social awareness. The songs are hard-hitting, passionate, and eye opening. By bringing these issues to light on their tour, they are talking the talk and walking the walk.

"It's cool to have two different types of things that we believe in and we support kinda come together," said Vollelunga.

Although their music may seem politically driven, they make it clear that their motive is to invoke thought, not to control it. The songs come from their own life lessons but they are written for everyone, regardless of the listener's personal views. It's about finding the truth within the stories we tell ourselves, as the title denotes.

"We like to encourage people to learn how to think rather than tell them what to think," said Oliver.

Although they are already considering what is next on their music agenda, their album The Stories We Tell Ourselves still has a lot of life left in it. They are continuing to ride the tidal wave of success with this release for a few more shows in Europe before they start writing their next record.
