What started as a young band playing catchy melodies with "potential" is now the latest big success story of their genre. State Champs' growth in popularity skyrocketed after the release of "Around The World and Back" in 2015 and they show no signs of fizzling out.
Following in the footsteps of their world famous predecessors in All Time Low and Blink 182 (to name a few), State Champs is the new band that every hopeful pop punk act strives to replicate. Champs collaborated with Alex Gaskarth and Mark Hoppus on their most recent release, "Living Proof," which marks a symbolic full circle moment for the group.
Despite the common comparisons to their inspirations, the band holds their ground with a unique identity defined by their personality and writing style. When you hear a State Champs song, it is always undoubtedly them...so how do they do it?
I wanted to learn more about their experience recording the album and their advice on how to stand out in an infamously repetitive genre. I also got the tea about their dream of touring with the Jonas Brothers...
